Yogyakarta is a city that rich in temples. Candi Ijo, a.k.a. Ijo/Green Temple in English is one of many temples that becoming a popular temple in Yogyakarta. For your Information, in Indonesia, Ijo is a pronunciation for hijau or green in English. Actually, there are no green temples in that place. All the temple’s colour is rock-grey. It named Green only because it located in a hill named Gumuk Ijo or Green Hill, so the temple there named Green Temple or Candi Ijo. Today, I’ve just come to Candi Ijo. Thus, in this article, I would like to tell you my incredible experience when I come to Ijo Temple with SPBA’s Writing Squad.

I would like to tell you about the journey to go through Candi Ijo. From UIN Sunan Kalijaga, it only took about 35 minutes by motorcycle to go to Candi Ijo. We can use google maps to get to the temple because there is no distraction with the signal through there. I think that we went in the wrong time because the weather was so hot at 10 a.m. in Yogyakarta, so I recommend if you want to go there, you have to go in the morning or afternoon. When we almost arrive in the Candi Ijo, there will be a signboard that directing us to the parking place. My honest advice, don’t take the first parking place because you have to walk a little hard to get there. When you arrive there, you will pay a parking charge of about 2.000 IDR for a motorcycle and 3.000 for a car. Then, there is also a charge of about 5.000 IDR for each person to get into the temple.

If you have been to Prambanan Temple or Borobudur Temple, you will feel a different experience in Candi Ijo. It doesn’t as large as Prambanan and Borobudur so it doesn’t take so much energy to walk around it. I would like to tell you several photo spots that if you take a picture there, everyone would think it was awesome pictures.

Our trip to the ancient city
The Main Temple at Ijo Temple

The first one is the main gate before the main temple. If you take a picture in the gate, the background is four awesome temples behind you. You also can take a picture, if you face towards the temple and there will be an awesome sky as your photo background. The next photo spot is the main temple that located in a square foundation sized about 600 meters square. In that foundation, there is one main temple and three little temples that face each other. You can take your picture in the main temple and the background will be an awesome temple behind you. The last one is if you stand in front of the three small temples, your picture will be like in a beautiful ancient city.

The Beautiful Sky

In conclusion, if you want to go to a beautiful temple without too many stairs in that temple, Candi Ijo is exactly the right place for you. The photo spots are awesome and you can proudly share your pictures with your friends.
